With this project I explored various ways to make clocks easier to use for older persons, who often experience time disorientation. Through observation and interviews, I identified problems such as low-contrast displays, abbreviations (AM/PM, Mon/Tues), and difficulty differentiating between whether a time such as 07:00 meant the person should get up and go to breakfast, or change into their pajamas for bed time.
I created series of prototypes, including a clock where the user could set a number of alarms and write down what he or she was supposed to do - such as take a medication - when that particular alarm went off.
While working on this project, I consulted with representatives from AARP, and relied on their members for input.
